About 100 WiSensys sensors are used for monitoring the ice quality on a skating track of more than 5 kilometer, located near Lelystad in the Netherlands where ice skating is a very popular sport. This track contains artificial ice from October until March in case the environmental temperature is above zero degrees (which often happens).
On more than 40 spots along the track the supply and return temperature of the cooling system is measured and wirelessly transmitted to a WiSensys base station. The maximum distance between a sensor and the base station is more than 1 kilometer.
The base station has been connected with a computer of the Hoogendoorn Company. This computer is the hart of an advanced system for controlling ice quality on the track based on weather conditions and forecasts, WiSensys data and other measurement data, taking into account minimal energy consumption for the cooling.
The sensors have been delivered through Orbi Solutions, one of the resellers of Wireless Value in the Netherlands.
