At the Saxion University in Enschede research projects are being executed on climate conditions in buildings, homes and offices. This research focuses on energy savings which can be achieved in renovated homes and buildings. A simulation program is being developed.
In order to validate the model various measurements over longer periods have to be done. Measurements on electricity, water and gas consumption are important but also the outside temperature, wind speed, sunlight energy, etc are input variables in the model.
The Saxion University has compared several different measurement systems. The conclusion was that the WiSensys platform was by far the best performing system for meeting the requirements. Especially the fact that many different sensors can be used in the system while using the same user interface was a very important requirement. In addition ease of installation and the range between sensor and base station were important factors.
In the next research projects T&M systems, one of the resellers in the Netherlands, will place WiSensys in different homes and buildings in order to facilitate further research.
