Hot water systems
In apartment buildings in general hot water supply for domestic use is done from centralised boilers placed in the cellar of the building. Transport and distribution of the hot water is done through a piping system. Monitoring of the water temperature in these distribution systems is important for maintaining healthy conditions

In a particular building with 45 apartments the hot water temperature had to be monitored. For this purpose temperature sensors have been placed in the hot water distribution system. For this purpose in each group of 3 apartments a Pt1000 sensor has been placed.
The owner of the building wants to monitor the temperatures in the cellar where the central boiler is placed. For the owner this place is easy accessible without disturbing people living in the apartments. The measured temperature in the apartments has therefore to be transmitted to the cellar.

Wisensys was chosen because it offers the possibility to transfer the measured temperatures wireless to the cellar. In order to bridge the distance in the prototyping phase 4 base stations were placed, connected to a data logger via a wired RS485 connection.
